I had such a great day yesterday. First thing in the morning I received a package from Amy Earles. She creates the most wonderful paper dolls (very pretty but with a definite edge). I bought Aurelia the witch from Amy's Etsy shop with the intent of putting her in my studio. Because, let's face it, every woman artist needs a good witch in her studio. I had so much fun putting her together.
and then, like any normal girl, I played with my doll... ;)
Aurelia took a walk with her cat...
...I could have really gotten carried away but I had my own work to do. Last Christmas my Mother bought me an amazing ornate frame from Anthropologie, I loved it but couldn't decide what to put it it. I thought a piece of artwork would be more fitting for it than a photograph. Yesterday I made this papercut for the frame...
Like some of my more recent pieces, I painted the paper first with acrylic.
I think I am starting to prefer the papercuts this way, rather than the colored paper that's out there because there's so much nice depth and variation in the color of each piece. Of course, I just bought a ton of colored paper...
I think she's sweet.
My husband Randy and I went for a long walk in our neighborhood, got some coffee, and finished the night with homemade pizza and baseball. It was pretty much a perfect day... :)
I am so impressed with these papercuts! They are amazing. I think you need to make a video.
